This course is suitable for:

Any adult aged 19 and over who wants to achieve their first full level 3 qualification, to help you gain in-demand skills and open up further job opportunities. This qualification is fully funded by the Department for Education for those applicants.

This course involves practical, hands-on experience as well as classroom learning. It will help you gain and develop work-relevant skills, in a creative and enjoyable way.

The course will give you an insight into what Information Technology work is really like, helping you to make decisions about your future whilst keeping your career options open.

National Diploma courses have been designed in partnership with employers. The qualification is equivalent to 2 A levels and can lead on to further study or a career in Information Technology.

What you'll study

This one-year course is designed to enable students to take their first step into the IT industry or progress to Higher Education.

Students will complete 12 units across a 12-month time period.

  • Computer Networks
  • Cyber Security
  • Cloud Computing
  • Managing a Project
  • Mobile Technologies
  • Computer Systems

The course uses a wide range of learning methods with a focus on practical workshops. These are designed to allow you to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.

Additionally, although contact hours are tutor and group-based, independent learning is increasingly developed throughout the course, and actively encouraged for your personal development; use of problem-based exercises and relevant scenarios aid this process.

Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the course using: written assignments and practical assessments.

Entry requirements

All Applicants will be invited to an online or telephone informal discussion

The entry criteria is:

4 x GCSE’s at grade 9-4 or A-C which should include Mathematics and English or Functional Skills Level 2.

Work experience

Students will be required to take part in a virtual work experience, this will involve completion of the Cisco Network Academy CCNA1 course, a Vendor certification that is highly regarded within the IT Industry.

Next steps

On completion of the course, you will be ready to enter higher education, join level 4 apprenticeship scheme or start work within the IT Industry.
