All Units will be internally assessed using a range of methods including:
- Direct observation within the workplace
- A portfolio of evidence
- Written assignments or a tasks
- Practical activities.
This qualification is the only course which is full and relevant to prepare you to work with children between birth and seven years. Learners could also progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Educator or the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce.
This qualification is suitable if you are aged 16+ and have little or no experience in childcare.

Completion of this Level 2 course could lead to work as a full-time Level 2 practitioner – in early years settings or progression to a Level 3 Early Years Educator course, an apprenticeship or other level 3 qualifications relating to childcare or health and social care.

To gain this qualification the learner will need to achieve the following:

Competence in a real work environment
English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.
