Course overview

If you’re passionate about pistons, mad for mufflers and love a dump-valve gear change – then this is the perfect course for you. Take your first step to becoming a professional mechanic with our official City and Guilds Motor Vehicle courses. Whether you want to run your own business, work for a local garage or you have your sights set on F1 – we can give you the hands-on training, work experience and practical skills to get you on the road to success.

This course is run at the Trinity Green Campus.

What you'll study

In your first year, we’ll show you how to perform all the essential task that would be expected of a professional mechanic. How to replace tyres, trims and exhausts and how to do routine tasks like oil changes, lamp replacements and puncture repairs. Once you have the basics down – we move onto diagnostics, how to tune and mod cars for efficiency and look towards the future with the option to specialise in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Assessment

Every task you complete will have an evaluation that you complete so that the next time you carry it out - you have checklist in your own words to work from. Your teacher will help identify what skills you need to develop and set you practical tasks to help you improve and become a better mechanic.

Entry requirements

You will be interviewed to assess your suitability for the course.

You will also take an assessment for English and Maths.
