There will be an emphasis on the development of both personal and teaching skills in English (literacy). Current approaches in literacy teaching will be explored with a particular emphasis on collaborative learning and applying skills in the classroom. Personal skills will be mapped to Level 3 standards.

The course will taught online with live sessions: Thursday 14th January 2021 for 7 weeks, ends Thursday 4th March.
Week 1: Introduction: self assessment; course content. Parts of speech (word classes)
Week 2: Types of noun. Verbs and tenses. Sentence types.
Week 3: Spoken and written English. Language form and language function.
Week 4: Reading skills and strategies. Text cohesion.
Week 5: Writing skills
Week 6: Spelling & punctuation
Week 7: Review: Personal Progress and Progression Routes
