BTEC Level 1/ 2 First Certificate – Systems Support/Computer Science and Programming is a new course that has been developed to meet the demands of employers. Computer Science now plays an important and essential part in our day-to-day dealing with computers at home, at college, and at work.

While on the course, you will learn how to use a variety of software to present your work, learn about computer systems, networking, and website design and software development.

 

What you'll study

To gain the full BTEC Level 1/ 2 First Certificate – Systems Support/Computer Science and Programming, you need to study and achieve the required grade in the following three core and three specialist units:

Core units:

  • The Online World
  • Technology Systems
  • Digital Portfolio

Specialist units:

  • Mobile Apps Development
  • Computer Networks/Database Development
  • Software Development
  • To gain the full BTEC Level 1/ 2 First Certificate – Systems Support/Computer Science and Programming, you need to study and achieve the required grade in the following three core and three specialist units:

Assessment

To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments:

  • Two externally examined units. Online exams under exam conditions.
  • One internally assessed unit, but externally moderated unit.
  • Three internally assessed and moderated units.

GCSE English
Grade 3 or D
GCSE Maths
Grade 3 or D

As well as GCSE English and GCSE Maths, this course requires 1 other GCSE in preferably an ICT related subject or a Pass grade at level 1 OCR or BTEC.
