Course overview

BTEC Level 2 First Award in Digital World is a new course that has been developed to meet the demands of employers. Digital World now plays an important and essential part in our day-to-day dealing with computers at home, at college, and at work. While on the course, you will learn how to use a variety of software to present your work, learn about computer systems, website design and Database development.

What you'll study

To gain the full BTEC Level 2 First Award – Digital World, you need to study and achieve the required grade in the following three core and three specialist units:

  • The Online World (Core Unit)
  • Digital Portfolio (Core Unit)
  • Database Development (Specialist Unit)
  • To gain the full BTEC Level 2 First Award – Digital World, you need to study and achieve the required grade in the following three core and three specialist units:

    • The Online World (Core Unit)
    • Digital Portfolio (Core Unit)
    • Database Development (Specialist Unit)

Assessment

To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments:

  • Two externally examined units. Online exams under exam conditions.
  • One internally assessed unit, but externally moderated unit.
  • One internally assessed and moderated units.

Entry requirements

GCSE English
Grade 3 or D
GCSE Maths
Grade 3 or D

As well as GCSE English and GCSE Maths, this course requires 1 other GCSE in preferably an ICT related subject or a Pass grade at level 1 OCR or BTEC.

Next steps

With the skills you learn from this course you will be able to apply for employment as an IT support trainee, or progress to an advance course like OCR Cambridge Technical. Successful achievement of this course plus Maths and English at grade 4 or C and above will give you the entry requirements to apply for an OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 diploma in Networking and Systems support, Software Development or Business IT course.
