  Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (one year) will introduce you to a variety of Art and Design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textile Design, Interior Design, and 3D Design. The final major project at the end of the first year allows you to specialise in one of the areas and supports your progression to the second year of the course (Extended Diploma).

The Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design will introduce and allow specialism in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography Fashion/Textile Design, Interior Design, and 3D Design.

You will develop a critical and contextual awareness of different perspectives and approaches with art and design. Working with specialist staff in our studios and workshops will give you the opportunity to explore your ideas through practical application. You will also learn how to research, analyse, and evaluate information and ideas to develop creative outcomes. A Major Project at the end of year 1 encourages further specialisation within the disciplines allowing more sophisticated understanding of a specific area. 

On successful completion of the first year, you will progress to the Extended Diploma. You will be encouraged to specialise further in the second year, building on skills and knowledge to finalise a portfolio and consider your next steps. Popular progression routes include Higher Education, apprenticeships, or the wider employment market. 

 Your experience on the course will be enriched through visits to galleries and exhibitions. This will support you in developing your portfolio in your chosen discipline, selecting work for an End of Year Show.

Four GCSEs including English Grade 4 and Maths Grade 3

A project-based approach to learning enables you to focus on nurturing your creativity. Feedback is given throughout the year allowing you to develop as a creative practitioner. Both first and second year culminates in a Final Major Project.

Successful completion of this course allows for progression for a range of careers in the Creative Industries. You will gain valuable transferable skills which can open up a careers in Design, Illustration, Artistry and Curation.
