Develop your creativity and explore your skills with our Art and Design courses. You will be to explore the arts through Textiles, Fashion, Fine Art and Graphic Design. We offer courses from Level 2 to Level 3 – secure your ideal career in the Creative Industries.

You will be introduced to a variety of Art and Design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textiles Design, Interior Design, 3D Design and Photography.

Entry requirements depend upon the level that you begin with, however you must be aged 16+ to enrol.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

On successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design, you will be in a position to progress to a Level 3 Diploma course in Art and Design. We can advise on progression opportunities to other qualifications and career pathways where required. You will gain excellent transferable skills that will prepare you for the world of work in the creative industries.

If you are aged 16-18, you will not need to pay a fee. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee. All fees exclude exams, registration and administration charges. These fees apply to all learners, except those with full fee remission.

The Level 2 Award and Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design provides an opportunity for students who are intrigued by art and design to explore, develop and test their creativity within a structure that provides a sound base of skills and knowledge whilst at the same time enhancing self-confidence.

The Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design will introduce you to a variety of Art and Design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textiles Design, Interior Design, 3D Design and Photography through a series of project briefs. You will learn to research, develop ideas, use technical skills, and evaluate your work.

You will be introduced to the diverse roles and responsibilities in the arts, design and creative industries and the personal and professional characteristics needed for a career in the creative industries.

Four GCSEs at a minimum of Grade 3 and a portfolio of art, design, or related work.

You should be aged 16+.

The Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (one year) will introduce you to a variety of Art and Design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textile Design, Interior Design, and 3D Design. The final major project at the end of the first year allows you to specialise in one of the areas and supports your progression to the second year of the course (Extended Diploma).

The Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design will introduce and allow specialism in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography Fashion/Textile Design, Interior Design, and 3D Design.

You will develop a critical and contextual awareness of different perspectives and approaches with art and design. Working with specialist staff in our studios and workshops will give you the opportunity to explore your ideas through practical application. You will also learn how to research, analyse, and evaluate information and ideas to develop creative outcomes. A Major Project at the end of year 1 encourages further specialisation within the disciplines allowing more sophisticated understanding of a specific area. 

On successful completion of the first year, you will progress to the Extended Diploma. You will be encouraged to specialise further in the second year, building on skills and knowledge to finalise a portfolio and consider your next steps. Popular progression routes include Higher Education, apprenticeships, or the wider employment market. 

 Your experience on the course will be enriched through visits to galleries and exhibitions. This will support you in developing your portfolio in your chosen discipline, selecting work for an End of Year Show. 

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or C including English, Maths, and an Art or Design subject. A small portfolio of creative work can be used instead of, or as well as, an Art and Design GCSE grade.

A project-based approach to learning enables you to focus on nurturing your creativity. Feedback is given throughout the year allowing you to develop as a creative practitioner. Both first and second year culminates in a Final Major Project.

Successful completion of this course allows for progression for a range of careers in the Creative Industries. You will gain valuable transferable skills which can open up a careers in Design, Illustration, Artistry and Curation.
