  Overview

If you are aged 19+ but don’t have the right qualifications or grades for university, Access to Higher Education (HE) is perfect for you.

Our courses let you move on to degree-level study at Bradford College, other universities, or into employment. The one year Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Business is suitable for students over the age of 19 who wish to progress to study business-related courses in Higher Education.

The development of theoretical skills in Business is a key feature of this programme and you will be expected to undertake a research project to demonstrate application of these skills.

This pathway may allow progression to careers in Human Resource Management and Business Management. This course will also provide an excellent academic foundation to pursue a career in law.

All students attend classes in Business and study skills.

*Please note that only Business will be being taught on this course for the 23/24 academic year.

You will need to spend around 15 hours a week for studies outside of your college timetable. You will need to allow this time for assignments, lesson preparation and revision activities. You should also expect to work with others and independently, meet deadlines and complete work to a high standard.

The course offers you 60 Credits at Level 3 and will be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Entry to this course requires GCSE English Language and Maths at a grade 4 or C. Level 2 English and Maths will be accepted, please refer to the entry requirements of your University of choice.

You are at least 19 years old on 1st September.

Students aged 18 will be considered in exceptional circumstances and on a case by case basis.

It is your responsibility to check that your Mathematics and English Language qualifications are accepted for the Higher Education Institution course you wish to eventually apply for.

Induction for this course will begin at the start of September.

Assessment on Access programmes involves a range of methods such as essays, presentations, reports and research investigations. You will have a combination of 15 ungraded and 45 graded credits, and 13 units in total.

For the graded units you will be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.

As well as the skills gained in Business, you will also develop skills in independent research, critical thinking and evaluative skills, study skills, interview skills and interpersonal skills. You will develop the necessary skills to progress onto Higher Education. We will introduce you to the UCAS system and provide tutorial sessions for university applications.
