This specialist A Level pathway has been designed to give you the skills you need to build a career in Engineering (Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Structural).
This pathway is made up of:
- A Level Physics
- A Level Chemistry
- A Level Maths
As well as a programme that includes enrichment activities, practical and work experience opportunities, our A Level labs and classrooms are fantastic facilities to learn and develop your talent.
Bradford College provides more contact time per subject than other A Level providers, ensuring you have the best opportunity to learn the topics, develop your critical thinking and have access to support from tutors and technicians.
Key Info
You will study a combination of topics in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, including topics in:
- Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Equilibrium, Rates, Acids and Bases, Halogenalkanes, Aromatic Chemistry, Transition Metals, and Period 3 Elements.
- Physics: Particles, Radiation, Waves, Mechanics, Materials, Electricity, Further Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Fields, Nuclear Physics, and Astrophysics.
- Mathematics: Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, Statistics.
5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above which must include GCSE Maths at grade 6 as well as each Science subject at a grade 6. Applicants must have a minimum Average Point Score of 5.6.
You will be formally assessed throughout the A Level course using a variety of methods including end of module exams, topic tests, termly exams and end or year exams.
During Year 12, students undertake two weeks of work experience in the summer term. Students are encouraged to use this opportunity to seek relevant work experience in line with their future career aspirations. Support is available for students who are unable to find a private placement.
Progression from A Level includes Further Education, Higher Education and employment. Career progression options from this pathway include roles in the Engineering profession. Careers include: Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering.

You will study a wide range of Chemistry topics that will allow you to broaden and deepen your knowledge and understanding of the subject. This is a two-year linear course that encompasses six content-based modules that will be formally assessed at the end of the two-year course. Students will also be assessed across a range of practical skills which are assessed separately as part of their practical endorsement.

The progress of all students is assessed throughput the course using internal methods. All formal assessments are at the end of the 2-year course, there are 3 exams in total.
