Bradford College Green Travel Plan
We take our commitment to the environment seriously. That’s why we aim to ensure that traffic and travel to and from Bradford College is undertaken in an environmentally responsible manner.
The main aims of the Green Travel Plan are to:
- ensure the safety of road and car park users
- discourage one-person car commuting, where reasonable alternatives are available
There are many ways to get to our College campuses and around Bradford. Find out here about the different options, so you can choose the ones that are best for your journey.
Public transport in the Bradford area
Bradford and surrounding area has an excellent bus and train service.
Bradford Interchange is a major hub for local bus services, intercity coaches, and rail with direct trains to Leeds, Halifax and Manchester. Walk time to the main College campus is about 15 minutes.
Bradford Forster Square train station has direct trains to Skipton, Ilkley and Leeds. Walk time to the main College campus is about 15 minutes.
Public transport: the best ticket for you in West Yorkshire
Deciding on the best ticket for you depends on lots of things. What age you are, how regularly you travel and the kind of journeys you make.
There are about a dozen companies running bus services in Bradford district – the main ones are First, Arriva and Transdev. All the operators sell bus tickets for their own services, but there is also a ticket called MetroCard which may be used on any buses in West Yorkshire (plus trains, if required). MetroCards are particularly useful if your journey involves travel on buses run by different operators, or if you use both bus and train for your journey.
It is also possible to purchase rail season tickets for regular use between any two railway stations (not just West Yorkshire).
To find out more about the right tickets for you visit:
For staff, there is a 15% discount off annual Corporate MetroCards. This annual ticket allows you to travel on almost any bus in West Yorkshire plus, as an added option, trains within a pre-selected zone at any day and at anytime.
Staff can join at three points during the year and pay for their cards through their salary.

Why not find a friend or colleague who can walk part of the journey with you? You can plan a walking route at the walkit.com website. Find out more about walking for leisure around Bradford.
Cycling is a great way to travel to work and keep fit at the same time. It can take only five minutes to cycle one mile, so if you live within five miles of the College, you can be on the campus in less than half an hour, keeping fit and saving money at the same time.
