Read how Leyla Jackson went from a second class university experience to a first class law lecturer with the help of Bradford College University Centre.
Leyla Jackson’s first experience of university life began in Manchester where she studied for a MBChB Medical Degree. Having successfully completed the first two years of the five year degree course, Leyla was unhappy with her experience and decided to switch courses. “I wanted a learning experience that really focused on meeting my aspirations and needs. I wanted to be taught by lecturers who focused more on teaching than they did on research.”
Leyla arrived at Bradford College University Centre to study LLB (Hons) Law. Excellent teaching, resources and easy access to lecturers helped Leyla gain a first-class honours degree. “My lecturers were friendly and supportive. Their supportive, open-door policy helped me to gain a first.”
After completing her degree, Leyla gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice and work experience in a local legal firm before returning to Bradford College. Leyla is now educating the next generation of aspiring Law undergraduates and professionals. She currently lectures in Family, Contract, Employment and Commercial Law. “We have Law lecturers who are previous students of the college. They are young and in-touch with the challenges and issues that students have.”
