On a cold, sunny November morning National Diploma Photography and Interactive Media students set out on a walk along the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Saltaire to Bingley. The aim of the walk was to raise money for charity and form part of a new sequential imaging project for the students.
Lecturer, Sue Griffiths explained: “We decided to raise money for Sightsavers. It’s a charity that helps save peoples sight in poor countries. It’s the charity we’ll be supporting this year.”
Sue continued: “The walk was also used to photograph images in sequence and used to promote a healthy lifestyle as the students had to walk three and a half miles from Saltaire to Bingley!”
Lecturer, Dale Cochrane was also involved in the organisation of the event. Dale added: “Our students didn’t mind walking as it was for such a worthwhile cause… they really got involved with the event and enjoyed the day. They raised both awareness and money. It wasn’t difficult to organise and it makes a difference in the students approach to healthy living. Try it and see!”
Interactive Media student, Becky enjoyed the experience. Becky said: “It was a lot more fun than I expected, especially the task. I had to take sequential pictures – I decided to take lots of pictures of peoples feet. We had a good time… we had a laugh!”
