Bradford College’s Martial Arts Academy comprises of three key sports - Judo, Karate and Tae Kwon-Do. Each sport is linked to a National Governing Body and a local club, all of which have excellent reputations for quality coaching and achievement at competition level. As a student, you’ll benefit by studying techniques in the different disciplines, developing your skills as an all-round martial artist. Additionally, you’ll be able to pursue your individual sport through the College - Club partnership structure or continue to work with your own existing club.
Supported by the British Judo Association, the College is linked with the Bradford Judo Club. Our coaches, who include a South African Judo Champion and former member of the British Judo Squad, have over 25 years of coaching and international competition experience in judo and jiu-jitsu. The Club has developed judo players for British squads at junior, cadet, senior and masters level whilst still maintaining an enjoyable, family atmosphere which encourages beginners to judo.
Within Karate, you will be trained by a professional Black Belt with the English Karate Organisation. The College trainer’s selection to fight in the Kofukan World Karate Championships 2009 in Japan is a tribute to their international competition record. With a degree in Sports Performance Coaching, the College Karate instructor will develop your skills in a highly traditional martial art and select an appropriate syllabus, linking to British University& College Sport [BUCS] competitions.
