Ian Morrall, President of Bradford & Bingley Cricket Club hailed the Academy as one of the best in the country, helping to develop talent in the Bradford League and the country.
If you would like a promising future playing League Cricket, then the Bradford College Cricket Academy will prepare you to be part of this exciting sport. The Academy, in partnership with The Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC), the Yorkshire County Board (YCB) and Bradford Council will provide you with professional training and coaching with top-class facilities.
The cricket talent in Bradford is renowned for being world-class, with students from the Academy going on to play at the MCC, at Lord's, which is the 'Home of Cricket' and the most famous club in world cricket.
Bradford College’s Trinity Green indoor cricket facilities are used by the YCB as a performance centre and summer matches are played at the historic Bradford Park Avenue former County cricket ground. With some great young female players emerging at the moment, the Academy is open to both men and women. As part of the Academy programme will involve competitions, this could lead to you experiencing overseas cricket tours.
Your vocational study programme is approximately 15 hours per week in your chosen career path. This can be any vocational course from our Further Education Prospectus, such as Construction, Public Services, Beauty Therapy etc. Sports Academy students who wish to choose a Sport course will have the choice of the following vocational sports courses:
The level of course will be chosen in consultation with your tutors, depending on your GCSE performance. Our Sports Academies cater for all abilities and all programmes include a study of Key Skills, to enhance your employment potential.
Students are appointed on a competitive basis and to be successful you will need to demonstrate your sports skills, fitness, motivation and commitment to the sport.
There will be a combination of morning (07.00 – 09.00), lunchtime (12.00 – 14.00), twilight (16.00-18.00) and evening (18.00 – 20.00) sessions. All college competitions will take place every Wednesday afternoon.
The Academy will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to either continue with your sporting career, progress through Further and Higher Education courses or gain employment in such fields as: Sport Coaching, Sports Administration, Fitness and Leisure Industry, Sports Management and Teaching. The College provides Foundation Degrees in Health-Related Exercise and Fitness, Sports Coaching and Sports Science to help you plan your progression routes in the sports and leisure industries.
