The Academy Launch

The innovative Hair and Beauty Department at Bradford College have launched their first training establishment for qualified Hair and Beauty therapist professionals called ‘The Academy’. The launch for regional employers took place at the home of The Academy; the Three Valleys Centre on North Street in Keighley.

The Academy is unique and is a first for the north of England as it uses skills and knowledge from an educational background, however the training provision is entirely for professionals in the Hair and Beauty industry; especially intended for employees who wish to continue with their professional development once they are within a working environment. It also provides bespoke training for qualified people who have had a career break or who want to refresh their existing skills.

The Academy benefits from working partnerships with renowned companies such Ellison’s, House of Famuir, Sienna and Crystal Clear, as well as experienced famous celebrity experts such as Andrew Barton, Daniel Sandler and Ross Millar from the Habia Creative Team showcasing their talents and sharing their wealth of industry knowledge.

Michele Sutton, OBE, Principal and Chief Executive of Bradford College welcomed employers to the event and officially opened the new venture. Expert demonstrations in hair, make-up, nail foiling and photography took place throughout the event to exhibit the talents of The Academy Team and staff were on hand to inform employers about the fantastic professional training courses on offer.

Leading the exciting new initiative Debbie Forsythe-Conroy, Director of Quality at Bradford College said: “This is so exciting and much needed. I know from my links with Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy employers that this facility is long overdue. It is truly based on employer need. What the professionals want or need, the College will broker and provide the experts to deliver. It has been so exciting pulling together these fantastic experts from across the country and getting their support has been invaluable. The standard of the work in Hairdressing is breathtaking and the range of courses in Beauty should meet every need and every budget.”

The Academy is well placed to deliver professional training solutions to businesses. Offering a comprehensive range of courses, the team is able to provide bespoke, bite-size and part-time training.
