In February, the College hosted an LSIS (Learning and Skills Improvement Service) sponsored Teaching and Learning Fair at the McMillan Campus in partnership with Newcastle College.

81 delegates attended a total of 12 workshops of which four were run by the PCET Team and one by Jackie Sharp and Helen Denning focusing on Employability Skills. These highly successful workshops were on a range of topics: using e-tools, giving feedback, questioning skills and embedding functional skills.  One comment about the event was that it "covered real issues aired by people from the sector".

The vast majority of the evaluations received were very favourable attracting positive comments and the event put the College firmly on the LSIS map. Lynn Taylor from the SID office was singled out for praise as a ‘star administrator’. Feedback suggested that those attending were impressed by the fact that the event was held in a working college with lots of students around.

The Learning and Skills Improvement Service is the sector-owned body that aims to accelerate the drive for excellence in the learning and skills sector. Visit their website at: www.lsis.org.uk
