In the latest bid to drive down unemployment following the recent government announcement showing record figures for 16-24 year olds, Bradford College has teamed up with The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy to offer students the opportunity to realise their career potential.

In a unique learning experience, students at Bradford College are set to work on real-life business challenges and gain hands-on experience running their own businesses and social enterprises.

‘With today’s young people facing little or no job prospects and 1.6 million people currently claiming jobseekers allowance*, it is time for colleges like ours to step up to the challenge and help address the problems bright young people are facing’, comments Peter Horton, Programme Manager FE Business and Enterprise at Bradford College. ‘Central to our endless mission is to continually review our range of career focused courses which will help our young people get on that road to employment. There is a significant increase in new business start-ups by young people unable to secure full-time employment and this is where we want to help’.

Launching this January, are two great courses; Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship which will help students to set-up and run their own business or to thrive within an existing organisation.

A first class work ethic is essential and students are expected to dress for business, work a typical 9am to 5pm, five days a week, and have a real “can do” attitude to life.

Through workshops, master classes, micro business surgeries and networking, students will meet and work with some of the UK’s premier business people and successful companies both locally and nationally.

Peter Jones, CBE of Dragons Den fame says: “The Peter Jones Enterprise Academies encourage a ‘go-getting’ attitude and a winning mentality, and collectively our graduates represent an exciting new generation of entrepreneurs that our country desperately needs to get itself back on its feet.

“Whether our graduates decide to set up their own business or work within an existing business, they will have gained the confidence, self-belief and business know-how to be successful in life.”
