‘Night of the Cybermen’ is the brilliant new play by Jonathan Hall, which was in production earlier this year at the Bradford Playhouse. Up and coming British design talent and Bradford College ND Art and Design student Thomas Rawcliff, was commissioned to design the flyer after winning a competition to promote the event.
Over the last few years Thomas has gone from strength to strength, producing work that is innovative, exciting and inspiring. The ingenuity of his creative mind never fails to impress. This is a far cry from Thomas’ humble beginnings at the College. Thomas had to re-sit exams and was not sure whether to return to complete his studies. With the help, support and encouragement of Course Tutor Dale Cochrane, he decided to return to the College and realise his ambitions.
Commenting on Thomas’ success, Dale said: “Thomas has achieved quite a lot! When he did come back, he decided to change his working ethos and upped the ante. He has come up with some brilliant work.”
When asked if this was down to Dales influence he remarked: “I hope so; both myself and other members of the team have had a bit of input. He’s actually very capable, although Thomas would confess himself that he sometimes lacks motivation, so we’ve encouraged him and now he’s going on to do great things. He’s going to be quite a prolific graphic designer!”
Dale continued: “He’s also working with another student, Lucas Jubb to produce work for a magazine and they’ve been commissioned to market ‘Battle of the Bands’.” ‘Battle of the Bands’ is a contest which sees bands, compete for the title of ‘best band’.
Dale concluded: “I think he’ll do very well. He’s seen an opportunity and gone for it.” Bradford School of Arts and Media is all about the freedom to experiment, to think differently and to be an individual. Thomas looks set to become the next rising star to emerge from the School, with innovative designs that are clever, conceptual and creative.
