An omelette challenge, hair braiding, student performances and the chance to meet the Bradford Bulls were just some of the activities that took place at the highly successful Appleton Academy Family Fun Day.
The Fun Day hosted on the grounds of Wyke Manor School, was open to everyone. The purpose of the day was to celebrate and raise awareness of the Bradford College-sponsored Appleton Academy, which will replace Wyke Manor School and High Fernley Primary School with an all-through learning environment for children and young people aged 3-16.
The Academy will open in existing buildings in September 2009 and move into new accommodation by September 2011.
Dwayne Saxton, the Academy’s Principal, said: “The Fun Day has been a great opportunity for children, parents and the Wyke Community as a whole to join Appleton Academy staff in celebrating the opening of the Appleton Academy. Visitors have been able to view initial designs and plans for the new Appleton Academy building as well as take part in a range of fun activities.”
