This year's sell out Student Summer Fashion Show, showcases some of the rising stars to emerge from the Bradford School of Arts and Media. The watching eye of the fashion world is increasingly turning to the School to spot the next great talent.

Speaking about the success of the Summer Fashion Show 2008, Course Director for Higher Education Angela Loftus said:  “The student’s work has already been well received at Graduate Fashion Week.  Its great that they’ve been able to follow on from this success with a sell out show.  The show is a mixture of both HE and FE.  It shows a sample of work from each of the levels.”

This year’s show has excellent levels of analysis and creative experimentation thrown into the eclectic mix.  With collections ranging from: Rebecca Meah’s ‘Banana Brains’ women’s wear collection.   Taking influence from the effects of serotonin gained from bananas on the mind and body; to Caroline Fletcher’s music inspired collection: ‘Where’s Jack?’ based upon the Leeds Festive 07, utilising screen print, bottle top necklaces, and clothes made from tents!

Angela, commenting on the collections and the talented British designers emerging from the School said: “Many of our students have gone on to start their own labels or have won awards within the fashion industry.  Rebecca Meah was acknowledged on the Graduate Fashion Week website this year for her ‘Banana Brains’ collection. GFW, referred to her as a ‘rising star!’ Whilst second year student, Sarah Morris came runner up in the Young Designer of the Year Awards at the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham.”

The eagerly anticipated show features designs from many award winning students.  First year fashion students Jade Anderson and Jade Hannam, ‘bagged’ top prizes in a prestigious design competition for sponsors of Graduate Fashion Week – River Island.  Whilst second year student (and runner up) Saadha Ali, created an eye catching carrier bag design for River Island.
