Art and Design Student Kirstie Wright, has been making regular appearances on the hit TV series 60 Minute Makeover since impressing TV Producers with her work, skills and ideas developed during her course. Recognising her talent, TV executives rapidly promoted her to oversee the development of a room on each programme and offered her a full-time position on the show!
The hit ITV series helps surprise loved ones by transforming their homes with the help of a team of designers and DIY experts in 60 minutes. Staring on the next series of 60-Minute Makeover Kirstie will be seen on our screens alongside presenters Craig Phillips (Big Brother winner) and Terri Dwyer (former Hollyoaks star).
Taking all this in her stride, Kirstie explained: “It's hard work but great fun. I’ve developed really good relationships with everyone. Its been very rewarding to see people receive makeovers and get the chance to have their homes transformed… something which may not have been possible without the show."
Kirstie modestly added: "The main focus of my job is to liaise with the designers, to ensure the rooms are transformed in the way they visualised. I use my creativity but the interior designers actually design the rooms.”
Six years ago Kirstie was packing car parts for Federal Mogul – now she’s enjoying a glittering career in television. Her work will also be featured in this year 2008 Bradford School of Arts and Media Summer Show. Kirstie explained: “I’m absolutely over the moon! I never thought I’d get to this point. Six years ago I was packing car parts, now I’m exhibiting work and being featured on 60 Minute Makeover!”
Kirstie added: “I’d encourage anyone to go back to College. Six years ago I wouldn’t have thought it was possible to be doing what I’m doing now. I’m really proud of myself. It’s been a great experience… hard work but the best thing I’ve ever done!”
