Earlier this year Bradford College promoted the Helena Kennedy Foundation Awards (HKF) and invited students to submit an application form, giving them the chance to win a £100 College prize and the opportunity to be put forward for a Helena Kennedy Foundation Award.
The Foundation awards £1500 annual bursaries to students who have overcome significant personal and financial hardship and are designed to support students in their progression to Higher Education, to improve chances of success in Higher Education and to increase employability when students move from higher education to work.
Having received numerous applications the College selected the 10 best applicants and rewarded them with £100 each before putting five outstanding applications forward for a Helena Kennedy Foundation Award.
Michele Sutton, Bradford College Principal & Chief Executive and Nick Byrne, Director of Student Services presented 10 Bradford College students with a cheque for £100 each at a presentation ceremony on Tuesday 17th May. The ceremony, held at the College rewarded the students for their hard work and commitment to their studies.
The Helena Kennedy Foundation Award winners will be announced this summer and the College hopes that a Bradford College student will be successful in winning one of the bursaries having had success every year in the past four years.
Michele Sutton, College Principal and Chief Executive said: “The College was very pleased to receive many excellent applications for the Helena Kennedy Foundation Awards. It was a difficult task finding the most deserving cases to submit on our behalf. We wish the five selected students all the best for the next stage of the Helena Kennedy Foundation Awards.”
