Green Solutions, in partnership with Bradford College, is a positive, forward thinking business with a fresh approach to helping local businesses meet their recycling needs. With growing concern for the environment, taking action to reduce waste has now become essential. In 2005 Bradford College made the decision to recycle as much of its waste as possible and the successful operation led to Green Solutions being founded as a commercial concept in 2010.
Ian Brown, the man behind Green Solutions and a string of environmentally friendly initiatives explained: “Our services cover the recycling of materials: paper, cardboard, plastic and metal recycling. Most of our collections are free of charge for the local business community. We also offer a first class confidential shredding service, equestrian eco friendly paper bedding and relocation moves and clearances.”
Green Solutions has become a model of excellence for other organisations. Elaborating further, Ian said: “We’ve been approached by companies across the county to find out how we deliver responsible recycling solutions. Due to budget restraints most have been unable to replicate our business model in its entirety, but hope to incorporate it further down the line.”
Green Solutions has a proven track record helping local business reduce their carbon footprint, reduce environmental impact and assist with cost savings. Ian explained: “We understand recycling isn’t easy. Our solutions are saving local business money and helping them to achieve a greener business.”
Chris Gardner, Installation Manager, Universal AV Services Ltd, Bradford, commenting on the outstanding service provided by Green Solutions said: “Ian Brown and his team have provided a first class service to us here at Universal. We are proud members of the business community in Bradford and having liaised with Ian through the Chamber of Commerce and have substantially benefited from his services.” Universal AV Services Ltd was in established in 1990 and are specialist suppliers of audio visual equipment and solutions. Cardboard is major component of business waste generated by the company.
Other clients include: Haq’s, City Training, Bradford College, Universal, Bradford University, Inprint and Design Limited, Office Furniture Company, Yorkshire Meat Supplies, Green Building Store and Ortho Care UK, with the list of clients continuing to grow.
Kate Gray, PA to Bradford College Assistant Directors approached Green Solutions, to find an alternative to traditional horse bedding products. Kate heard about the benefits of equestrian eco friendly paper bedding and was delighted when Ian Brown and his team said they could accommodate her request. Kate explained: “I wanted to find horse bedding that was environmentally friendly. This is made from recycled mixed paper that originates from paper waste generated by the College. It’s extremely warm, economical, user friendly and has excellent green credentials as it’s totally biodegradable.”
Kate concluded: “It’s a total full circle recycle – as the paper originates from the tree, serves it business purpose in the College, thrown in the recycling bin, made into horse bedding, removed from the stable - and spread on the farmers land.”
Inprint and Design Limited is a full-service printing, finishing and graphic design company that is also fully committed to environmentally friendly initiatives. Paper is a major component of business waste generated by the organisation, which lead Director, Brian Pickles to find an environmentally friendly recycling solution. Reflecting on the service provided by Green Solutions, Brian said: “We’re delighted to have benefited from the outstanding service provided by Green Solutions. Working in collaboration with Ian Brown’s team, we have reduced our carbon footprint and made substantial cost savings. I would highly recommend this responsible recycling solution to any business.”
There is now growing demand for companies to improve their carbon footprint by recycling more, as climate change is considered the biggest environmental issue that is challenging the world today. According to government research we generate about 100 million tonnes of waste from households, commerce and industry each year. The majority of this waste ends up in landfill, contributing to climate change. There has never been a better time for companies to improve their carbon footprint and become more eco friendly. Ian Brown concluded: “We’re delighted that Green Solutions is taking action to help the environment, by actively encouraging companies to recycle!”
