Bradford College is proud to host WorldSkills UK - the world’s largest, international skills competition where young people from across the globe compete to become the best of the best in their chosen skill.

Michael Gration, Bradford College event organiser (AQO) said: “The week long competition provides our learners with an excellent opportunity to see what it takes to be a 'competitor' and an idea of what can be achieved in their chosen discipline."

WorldSkills UK competitions run both regionally and nationally each year in the UK and aims to help lift standards of training and performance promoting world class skills and international competitiveness.

The competition held at Trinity Green Campus was open to students working or studying Refrigeration.  The competition involved competing against other teams to deliver a cost-effective and compliant solution to a set challenge.

Competitor Bryan Craig said:  "Being involved in WorldSkills UK and the WorldSkills competition as a whole is a fantastic experience.”  Craig added: “Bradford College has given us everything we need to compete effectively!"

Elaborating further on why Bradford College was selected to host the prestigious WorldSkills UK Competition, Mark Forsyth, Training Manager and Chief Judge for Refrigeration UKSkills and WorldSkills said: “We selected Bradford College to hold the UK squad selection 'pressure test' because of the excellent facilities and hospitality we’ve been showed by Bradford College staff Michael Gration and Bob Withell.  The competitors have benefitted from the breakout areas, working well under pressure, whilst been watched by spectators.”

Mark Forsyth concluded: “Following the success of the competition - we look forwarding to working with Bradford College on future collaborations."

The team members competing in WorldSkills UK presented Bradford College Principal and Chief Executive, Michele Sutton, OBE with a commemorative Worldskills History book.  Commenting on hosting the WorldSkills UK Competition, Principal, Michele Sutton, OBE concluded: “We’re delighted to host this event – the competition inspires our learners and those taking part to become the best that they can be in their chosen field - positively effecting their career options and opportunities in the future!"

The winners of the prestigious competition will be invited to attend an awards event that will be held later this year.
