Beauty Therapy Students’ Success at WorldSkills UK Competition

Bradford College celebrated student success in the WorldSkills UK – regional event in Wakefield early this month.

Students on Beauty Therapy, Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make up and Nail Services courses scooped 1st and 3rd places in their competition heats.

WorldSkills UK is a portfolio of skills competition activity managed by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with organisations from industry and education. This competition activity comprises pre-vocational, national and international skills competition activities for both young people and adults.

Zira Mansha on an NVQ L2 Nail Services course won first place in her competition by creating nail art in the theme of ‘Golden Burlesque’. Jonathan Burgin on a Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make up achieved third place entering the Media Make-up ‘Golden Oldies’ themed competition. BTEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy student Sobia Ali had to demonstrate Intermediate Level Beauty Therapy which involved a facial, manicure with French and red polish and ½ leg wax.

Emma Morris, Course Tutor for NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy commented, “All our students who entered the competition worked really hard and have done Bradford College and the Beauty Therapy Department proud.”
