Bradford Enterprise Academy invited Ross Miller, Artistic and Training Director of the renowned Renella Hairdressing Salon, to demonstrate his cutting skills and talk about his background in the industry.
Ross has 20 years’ experience of working in Renella – the business owned by his family (the name comes from Ross’s grandmother). The salon in Falkirk, Scotland, employs 40 hairdressers, 12 apprentices and an administrative team.
One of the main things Ross emphasised to the students was the vital importance of excellent customer service in a salon – believing that it’s almost as important as hairdressing skills.
Ross is also a firm believer in the importance of training. Some years back, Renella was the only salon in Scotland to offer hair extensions. Recognising a need for training, Ross became involved with Habia, the standard-setting body for the hair, beauty, nails and spa industries. He has since travelled around the world, teaching, demonstrating his skills and promoting good practice.
