Students from our National Diploma in Perfoming Arts course were joined by one of our talented Music students to present a lively showcase for Christmas in Westbrook Hall on the evening of 9th December.
Although many of the musical numbers were Christmas themed - with festive evergreens including Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, Jingle Bell Rock,Let It Snow and White Christmas - the programme was much broader. The students had developed original acts in a range of styles from acting to singing, dance to mime and physical theatre, reflecting work that the first year students had created for the course's Variety Performance Unit and that the second year students had devised as part of a course strategy of trying new things and contantly developing additional skills.
Particular highlights incuded Kallum Inman's exhuberant Bollywood dance; Stephen Maloney and Atif Gulzar's tension filled scene from The Godfather; Josh Doyle's amazing guitar playing(including a fabulous turn as Hank Marvin!); plus Anthony Turner and Siobhan Ullah's rousing rendition of Fairytale of New York. There was also some terrific singing, especially from soloists Amy Bolster, Becky Chilton, Leanne Kelly and Amanda Walton. Altogether this was a festive treat.
