As this will be the final Summer Show for our beloved Painting Tutor, Howard Eaglestone, who is leaving us after thirty-six memorable years to concentrate on his own painting, we sought his invaluable perspective.
“Both Fine art and Art & Design degree shows have been very successful this year. They exemplify the quality of the courses which advocate student centred learning, where students’ interests are developed, both critically and imaginatively, to create exciting bodies of work. What is particularly interesting about these courses is the diversity of the work and the rich variety of student experience reflected. Many of our students come with a considerable life experience and it is particularly productive to see the interaction between the students, who are more like a community of artist designers than a cohort.”
