Course Overview

Strong business skills are an important skill-set in what is an ever-demanding and challenging economic environment. This programme has been designed to meet the needs of industry and commerce. It will provide you with a practical overview of the business world and equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to make you successful.

On completion, you can progress to a Business Degree on either a full or part-time basis. The course will also open up career opportunities and provide you with a competitive advantage in gaining employment in most business related fields.

Course Structure

The course is vocationally based and involves various learning methods. Our emphasis is on student-centred learning techniques which are flexible and will allow you to develop an individual learning approach. You will study a total of 16 Units over two years.

HNC students can progress onto the HND, building on those same HNC Modules, you will study Strategic, Qualitative and Operational Modules all designed with a thorough business grounding.

Learning Methods

 Deep and surface learning.

Teaching Methods

 Student-centred learning, tutor-led sessions, research skills & development, lectures and guest speakers. 

Assessment

 Assessment can be by presentation, assignment, reports, research papers and exam.

Work Placement/Fieldwork

 Work placement is an opportunity but this is student focused and is normally taken up by the student.

Entry Requirements

220 tariff points. A minimum of three GCSEs at Grade C or above and one A2 or two AS GCEs or AVCE or equivalent.
We also encourage applications from potential students who have achieved one of the following:
Award of a full Access Certificate by a licensed Access Validating Agency, Key Skills Level 3 (Application of Number, Communication, ICT), Compact Students with evidence of participation and 'Aim Higher' students.
