

This programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in a wide range of computing and business careers or for further study in these areas at degree level.
The course comprises 16 Modules which are studied over two years. We emphasise the breadth of IT business applications and the supporting business environment where applications are developed.
You will be expected to attend all lectures, seminars and tutorial sessions. Practical sessions will be activity-based, often employing group work and using computer facilities. These sessions will help you to develop computer-based solutions to problems and use and apply case study material.
Modules are assessed by a variety of methods including: assignments, projects, case studies, practical exercises and examinations.
When you graduate from this course, you will be in the perfect position to enter a range of computing-related careers. On successful completion of the HND, you may also progress onto a one year 'top-up' programme leading to a BSc (Hons) degree .
Salaries within the computing/gaming industry typically range from £19,000 a year to over £60,000 depending on the level of management or specialism involved in the role.
You will benefit from working on real life projects and design briefs and will be encouraged to enter regional and national competitions.
Our Computing department achieved student satisfaction rates of 92% in the 2009 National Student Survey.
Minimum tariff points 120. A minimum of three GCSEs at Grade C or above and preferably including Mathematics and English and one A level or AVCE or equivalent but consideration may be given to two GCE AS or ASVCE or BTEC National Certificate/Award or one A2 or AVCE (minimum six Units).
Applications are welcomed and encouraged from those who do not meet the standard requirements but can demonstrate the ability to study at Higher Education level.
We were delighted that the QAA's Integrated Quality and Enhancement Review (IQER), carried out in January 2010 concluded that they had 'Confidence' (the highest judgement possible) in the quality of our Higher Education provision.
