Bradford College has a long history of providing legal education which stems from delivery of A level law through to the Foundation Degree in Law and Legal Practice, delivered for the first time in 2008/9, and established degree programmes, as well as delivering law in other areas such as ILEX (Institute for Legal Executives), and CLC (Council for Licensed Conveyancers) courses.

This comprehensive College portfolio provides students with the opportunity to study full law programmes or just specific aspects of law, to study an academic course appropriate to their personal or professional needs.

Course Overview

You should be aware that this is not a Solicitors Regulation Authority/Bar Council qualifying law degree, but it is a degree in law which will let you construct your own course from the module bank at the Bradford Law School. It is a non-qualifying law degree with a very flexible structure.

Course Structure

Three years full time delivered over six semesters.

Modules Covered

The course`s exciting and diverse modules include: English Legal Process, Public Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Land Law, Law of Tort, Law and the Internet, Consumer Law, Legal Skills, Commercial Law, Company Law, Law of Evidence, Jurisprudence, Immigration Law, Landlord and Tenant Law, Law of Evidence, Equity and Trusts, European Law, Criminology and Penology, Family Law, and Dissertation.

Learning Methods

You will be expected to attend lectures and seminars, and you will also undertake guided and supported independent study.

Teaching Methods

You will be given lectures and seminars and also be offered the chance of dissertation research.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a variety of different techniques including: examinations, assignments, portfolios, presentations, dissertations and assessed moots/client counselling.

What`s Next?

On successfully completing the course, you will have the opportunity to go on to study at Postgraduate level, including LLM/Graduate Diploma. You can also apply for a range of legal or business careers.

Entry Requirements

You will need two A Levels equivalent to 240 UCAS points or above, or AVCE (minimum of 12 units), or BTEC National or equivalent or Access Course, or the international equivalent. If you are a non-standard applicant,  formal entry requirements may not be necessary. Entry will be based upon your ability to demonstrate the capability to complete, and benefit from, the course.
If you successfully complete the College`s Foundation Degree in Law and Legal Practice, you may be eligible for direct entry to Level 2 of this degree.
