Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care

Course Overview

This is a popular, practical, work-related course where you will learn by completing projects and assignments as well as  undertaking a two week work placement experience. Placements can be anywhere in the Bradford district and you will have to be prepared to travel to experience a range of health care settings.

If, at the end of the course, you successfully gain an overall Merit with three Units at Distinction, you will be eligible to progress onto the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Students aged 19 or over can apply for the Access to HE Health Professions (HP) course.

 

Course Structure

Individual Needs Within the Health and Social Care Sectors
Human Lifespan Development
Cultural Diversity in Health and Social Care
Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care
Health and Social Care Services
The Impact of Diet on Health.

You will also study Functional Skills in  Mathematics, English and IT as well as a range of additionality programmes.
 

Entry Requirements

You need to have at least one of the following:
A BTEC Level 1 Diploma in a related subject or a related Foundation Learning Level 1 qualification of at least 25 credits and Functional Skills Level 1 English and Entry Level 3 Mathematics or four GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grades D-E with a minimum of two at Grade D including English Language.
A satisfactory medical examination and CRB check will be required prior to entry.You will be invited for an interview and will be required to provide a reference.
Applications are welcomed from mature students who are able to demonstrate that they are capable of coping with and benefiting from the course.

During your course, you should successfully complete a period of work experience. This should be integrated into your work on the programme. During your placements, you will be visited by our Placement Visiting Tutor.

How You Will Be Assessed

Each Unit is assessed through a unit assignment. Tasks within these assignments vary and you will be assessed using methods such as: written work, posters, verbal questioning and role play.
