Level 2 Diploma in ICT (System Support)

Course Overview

This is a practical and work-related course that will provide you with an excellent basis for your chosen area of employment.

You will have the opportunity to learn specialist ICT skills relating to PC building, upgrading and maintenance.

Course Structure

This vocational course is made up of seven Units.
You will study three Mandatory Units:


Communicating in the IT Industry

Working in the IT Industry

Computer Systems.


You will also study four Specialist Units:

Website Development

Setting up an IT Network

Customising Software

Software Design.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have at least one of the following:
Three GCSEs at Grade D or above, related work experience or other related Level 1 or 2 qualifications.
You must have a good standard of Numeracy and Communication skills and provide a satisfactory reference.

How Will I Learn?

  • You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities.
  • You will have access to our PC building and upgrading facilities and our dedicated network, with full internet access.

Skills You Will Develop

  • The selection of Specialist Units enables you to study how computers work and develop your practical skills.
  • You will learn how to diagnose PC faults and upgrade PC systems.

How You Will Be Assessed

All Units are assessed by assignments - these are graded to produce an overall grade for the course.
