Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children`s and Young People`s Settings

Course Overview

This is an excellent course if you have few or no formal qualifications but are interested in studying Health & Social Care.

The course will give you an introduction to the area of Health & Social Care and will help you develop the skills needed to work in a Health & Social Care profession.

Course Structure

You will study a variety of Vocational Units and Personal and Social Development Units. Units include:

Introduction to a Healthy Lifestyle and Introduction to the Development of Children and Young People Through Play

You will also study Functional Skills in English, Mathematics and IT as well as a range of additionality programmes.

In the second semester you may be able to go on a work experience placement. This placement will be in the field of Health & Care and will provide an excellent taster as well as developing your employability skills.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements although you will be invited for an interview where you will complete a short piece of written work. In addition, you will need to show that you have the maturity and motivation to cope with the demands of the course.

You will also be required to provide a reference.
A satisfactory medical examination and CRB check will be required prior to entry.

How You Will Be Assessed

Each Unit is assessed through a unit assignment. Tasks within these assignments vary and you will be assessed using methods such as: written work, posters, verbal questioning and portfolio building.
