Professional Cookery Foundation Diploma Level 1

Course Overview

This qualification will suit you if you would like to work as a professional within the hospitality sector.

You will learn to cook a range of dishes focusing on current trends and dish developments. You will also learn the skills of serving and communicating with customers, whilst mastering the art of the different service styles.

Course Structure

Throughout the course, you will learn about personal presentation and communication skills. You will build on your practical knowledge and skills to enable you to work in a competent manner in a professional catering environment. You will prepare and cook a wide range of starters, main courses and desserts, learn a variety of food and drink services and learn how to sell and serve alcohol in a legal and responsible manner.

Entry Requirements

You should be aged 16-18 and have GCSE  English at a minimum of Grade E, or equivalent, and three other GCSEs at Grade E or above.

You will need to show, in an initial assessment at your interview, that you are working at an appropriate level .

How You Will Be Assessed

  • You will be required to complete theoretical assignments.
  • Practical skills will be tested with synoptic tests at the end of the year to ascertain whether you achieve a Pass or Credit grade.
