Group Seven: Fine Art Now
The wonderful playing of a string trio entertained patrons flocking to the preview of this fascinating show, featuring a diverse mix of paintings, print, photography and sculpture reflecting the interests and enterprises of 8 artists comprising Group 7 of the Leeds Fine Art Club: Cath Brooke, Bill Major, Kath Tarpy, Catherine Sutcliffe-Fuller, Janine Denby, Tony Chisholm, Mark Milnes and Amrik Varkalis.
Much of the subject matter draws its inspiration from the local area, prompting the viewer to reconsider and appreciate their surroundings. But as Tony Chisholm, who created the show, explained, this was not intentional. “None of us work to a theme. We are all ploughing our own artistic furrow but the show came together coherently.”
