Fabric presents 'Flesh'

Flesh exhibition opening

Fabric (forum for the arts in Bradford - regeneration inclusion creativity) present their first major exhibition of work by Bradford artists at the Bradford Gallery in the Yorkshire Craft Centre from 11th to 24th October.

Exhibition Curator, Steve Manthorp told the large audience gathered at the opening, “I am very grateful to Bradford artists for putting so much flesh on display! It has been amazing to see Bradford artists committed to such a provocative theme and producing such good work.” He thanked all entrants and his fellow judges, Sonia Kielty of Cartwright Hall and Sarah Reid of the Impressions Gallery, who had the difficult task of whittling over 100 submissions down to the final 54.

Fabric Director, Gideon Seymour echoed Steve’s thanks to all concerned. “It was hard to envisage the work that we selected become this fantastic exhibition.” He explained that the original intention had been to  award a purchase prize and Fabric would then donate the work to Bradford Museums & Art Galleries' permanent collection. However the panel found it impossible to choose one winner, so instead 2 prizes of £250 were awarded to Morwenna Catt and Bruce Rimell.
