Remarkable Re-Masters

  Re-Masters Exhibition

Printmaking and Photography Exhibition at the Yorkshire Craft Centre

At the opening of this intriguing exhibition, Colin Lloyd, Course Tutor for MA Printmaking, explained “The joint exhibition makes sense since due to digital media; photography and printmaking are moving closer together. This show uses printmaking technology to push at the boundaries of what printmaking is and includes traditional, digital and installation pieces. The diversity and quality of the work on display is testament to the ambitions of the exhibiting artists.

For instance, Laura Gurnip has recently returned to America but her Forecast Rain, is a focal point. It has a cloud reflected in a mirror on the floor with 100 individually printed books hanging from the ceiling. Each book contains a teabag so you can enjoy a drink while you read the book. It resembles a circle of tents, possibly a refugee camp, and the tea bag also denotes comfort. People will be invited to cut a book away and take it home at lunchtime during the Multiples day of seminars we are holding on 16th November.

One of the great pleasures for me as a tutor, contributing to the Masters programmes, is to participate in and observe the transformation of students into independent artists. I am certain that the all the artists exhibiting here will be making a significant contribution to arts practice in the future.”

Meet some of the contributors: Helen Cole, Naseem Darbey, Pete Blagg, Katherine Bolton, Janet Allsebrook and Kathy Hammond.

Re - Masters  runs from Friday 26th October to Wednesday 14th November 2007 in the Bradford Gallery at the Yorkshire Craft Centre.
