Find out how Kirstie Wright went from packing car parts to making regular appearances on ITV1 with the help of Bradford College.
Six years ago Kirstie was packing car parts for Federal Mogul and now she’s enjoying a glittering career in television!
Kirstie enrolled at Bradford College on an Arts and Media Access Programme before progressing to a BA (Hons) in Art & Design course in the hope of fulfilling her dream of becoming an interior designer.
Having successfully completed both courses, Kirstie landed herself a job making regular appearances on the ITV1 show 60 Minute Makeover. Kirstie impressed TV Producers when she applied to work as a volunteer on the show after seeing an advert on her course notice board. Recognising her talent, TV executives rapidly promoted Kirstie to oversee the development of a room on each programme and recently offered her a full-time position on the show!
Kirstie accredits her role to the work, skills and ideas that she developed during the course. Kirstie comments, “I would encourage anyone to go back to College. I wouldn’t have thought it was possible to be doing what I’m doing now and I’m really proud of myself. Its been a great experience… hard work but the best thing I’ve ever done!”
“My job is hard work but great fun. I’ve developed really good relationships with everyone. Its been very rewarding to see people receive makeovers and get the chance to have their homes transformed. The main focus of my job is to liaise with the designers and use my creativity to ensure the rooms are transformed in the way they visualised. I never thought I’d get to this point. Six years ago I was packing car parts, now I’m exhibiting work and being featured on 60 Minute Makeover. It’s a dream come true.”
The hit ITV series helps surprise loved ones by transforming their homes with the help of a team of designers and DIY experts in 60 minutes. Staring in the next series of 60-Minute Makeover Kirstie will be seen on our screens alongside presenters Craig Phillips (Big Brother winner) and Terri Dwyer (former Hollyoaks star).
