Help & Advice for Students - Useful Helplines, Websites & Local Organisations
If you are experiencing harm or abuse and are not sure if you want to talk to someone in College there are some useful Telephone HELPLINES, WEBSITES and LOCAL ORGANISATIONS who offer help and support and can assist you in working out who else you may want to talk to.
Helplines can be a way of talking through worries you have and can be confidential. You often do not need to give your name if you do not want to do so.
Many organisations who give support to people have websites that have useful information. Some offer an on-line service where you can describe what is happening to you and get support and advice.
Some local organisations will offer support and practical help. You don't need to have reported the abuse to the police for them to give you support.
If there is an immediate risk to your safety contact the police on 999.
CHILDLINE
For young men or women who are under 18 years old and have a problem or are worried about someone you know and need to talk confidentially to someone. Everything you say stays between you and Childline - unless you want them to talk to someone for you, or you are in real danger.

VICTIM SUPPORT (service for men or women)
Support for the victims of crime. You don't have to have reported the crime to get help and can call any time after the experience, even if it happened years ago.

Mosaic II is a support service for family members and survivors whose lives have been affected by sexual abuse.

STAR - Surviving Trauma After Rape (service for men or women)
A confidential helpline is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Our trained workers are there to listen and offer support to anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted. They can also provide information about other services and agencies in West Yorkshire.
If you are 14 or over and have been raped or sexually assaulted within the past 7 days you can now self-refer to our new Crisis Worker Service. Our Crisis Worker will discuss your options with you and, if you wish, can arrange for you to have a forensic medical examination.

A Bradford Project which offers advice and support to women who have experienced abuse and who are at risk of losing their home. They can provide home security such as locks and alarms for those who feel unsafe in their own home.
