CoVEs
Bradford College has three Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE).
- CoVE in Applied Science
- CoVE in Beauty and Complementary Therapies
- CoVE in Gas Innovation and CPD Centres
In 2001 the Government identified 16 Pathfinder Centres of Vocational Excellence to act as exemplars within the sector. To raise standards, to disseminate good practice and to develop strong partnerships within schools, colleges and employers.
The Applied Science CoVE is a Pathfinder Centre of Vocational Excellence being the only one of its kind in the country. The Science programme area works locally, regionally and nationally with a wide range of employers. Provisions from Level 1 to Degree Level are offered including: Pharmacy Services, Ophthalmic Dispensing, Access to Higher Education, Assessor and Verifier Training. Staff act as consultants to employers, particularly those within health related fields.
Following the identification of the Pathfinder Centres, additional CoVEs were identified nationally with the College being awarded the other two CoVEs, Beauty and Complementary Therapies and Gas Innovation and CPD Centres.
The Beauty and Complementary Therapies CoVE offers provisions from Level 1 to Degree Level. This includes: Beauty Therapy, Spa Therapies, Nail Services, Beauty Therapy Sciences and Beauty Therapy Management.
Gas Innovation and CPD Centres CoVE offers provisions from Level 1 to Level 3 including Plumbing, Gas, ACS Gas qualifications and Solar Heating.
The awarding of the three CoVEs was in recognition of the provisions offered, employer responsiveness and of the teams of staff who have a wide range of professional backgrounds and expertise.
Employer engagement and responsiveness has increasingly become higher profile as the work of the CoVEs has developed.
Specifically designed and developed provisions, to specific employer requirements, as well as traditional qualifications are offered.
