When asked what Andy believes his biggest achievement has been since joining the College, Andy replied: “I suppose my biggest achievement was getting the new Trinity Green Campus built. I suppose its got to be, its been a big project.” Gerry Sutcliffe MP, Minister for Sport, officially opened the new Trinity Green Campus in September 2008. The £20 million development, houses the College’s Sport, Engineering and Construction curriculum areas. It’s an environmentally friendly building, with sustainable green technology.

Andy is keen to promote a greener, cleaner environment with environmentally friendly travel choices too. Andy regularly cycles to work in an attempt to reduce his carbon footprint and protect the environment. Speaking about the Green Travel Plan for staff and students, Andy said: “We needed to look at how people come to work.  We know there’s going to be less and less car parking available in the future. So we need to support people to be able to leave their cars at home. The last thing I would want to do is tell people they can’t bring their car into College, or they can’t park in the city. I don’t want to force anyone to do anything they don’t want to do. The reality is there’s not going to be as much car parking around the College. We call it the Green Travel Plan because it’s about encouraging people to lower their carbon emissions. Even coming on the bus, or car sharing, cuts down the amount of pollution and the effect it has on the environment.”

Andy added: “I normally cycle to work and I love it. It’s good for the environment and it’s good for your health… well normally it is, well that’s unless you get knocked off your bike.” Andy joked. “Studies have shown moderate exercise (before starting work), improves your performance - making you more alert when you get there.”
