Education is a subject close to Eve Gregory’s heart, with a connection with Bradford College that spans more than a decade…. As a leading property lawyer in the education sector, Eve reveals why…
Eve’s work as a former Partner at Eversheds brought her in contact with Bradford College in the late 1990’s. Elaborating further Eve said: “I worked with the College on a number of its property transactions over the years - from the sale of the Ilkley Campus, through to work on the current redevelopment project, In doing so, I got to know the senior management team of the College well and their passion for the College and its role in the community rubbed off - I feel a real connection and affection for the College.”
A distinguished solicitor specialising in property first at Eversheds and then at DAC Beachcroft, Eve was and is the National Head of Real Estate for the Education Sector Group at both firms. Working on a number of capital projects in both Higher and Further Education sectors gave her valuable insight into a number of local educational institutions including: Bradford College, Bradford University, Wakefield College, Doncaster College, Kirklees College, Leeds City College Keighley Campus and the University of York.
As a highly regarded Keynote Speaker with a capacity to innovate, Eve has delivered talks at national AoC Estates, AoC Finance, AoC National Conferences and ASRA.
Following her move to DAC Beachcroft LLP as a Real Estate Partner in March 2011, Eve’s role has widened to include work in the Health sector. Eve boasts an impressive list of clients including: Bradford and Airedale PCT, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and a large number of other Health Trusts in the Yorkshire and Humber, Midlands and North East regions.
Outlining how she intends to add value to the College Corporation, Eve said: “Although my training has given me specialist knowledge of Property, Planning and Construction issues, I believe my work in the public sector has given me a rounded knowledge of vires and governance, charity law, funding issues, as well as a general understanding of how an FE college operates.”
Eve added: “In addition, as the head of the Property Team at a large law firm, I have been responsible for managing million pound budgets, staff and HR issues and am used to driving a business forward through the development of and adherence to a business plan.”
“I believe these are all transferable skills that can add value to the Bradford College Corporation.”
With an enduring commitment to education throughout her career, Eve looks set to use her sharp business acumen and effective business strategies to work in harmony with the College team to drive our business forward.
