The Learner Experience

The proposed new development will transform the nature of the learner experience, key benefits will include:
- Bringing together a diverse range of facilities and curriculum into a single location. This will offer greater access to the full range of facilities for all learners including a new student service one-stop-shop and the Learning Resource Centre.
- Creating new styles of learning environments that will support different ways of learning, including an increased emphasis on areas suitable for group working and informal, social learning.
- Offering highly flexible space that encourages the use of emerging technologies, including greater emphasis on wireless connectivity throughout the building to make every space a potential learning space.
- Creating realistic work environments that encourage public use of the building, including shop front facilities for the café, training restaurant and hair and beauty salons.
- Maximising opportunities to showcase learning activity through the use of glazed screens, open plan areas and voids that allow views through the building.
- Offering a variety of types and sizes of social and informal self-study areas throughout the building. This is designed to encourage learners to remain on campus and offer spaces that can respond to the differing needs of learner cohorts
