The Accommodation Strategy – In a Little More Detail…..

Why do we need a new build?

Bradford College currently occupies approximately 77,000m2 of accommodation mainly spread over 11 buildings.  These buildings cover a diverse range of ages and architectural styles.

The vast majority of our buildings require considerable investment to improve either their physical condition and/or their functional suitability for the changing needs of the curriculum.

Therefore in 2004/05 the College identified its preferred estates strategy to significantly reduce both the number of sites and overall quantity of space that it occupies in a two phased development strategy.

The 2008 Trinity Green redevelopment formed the first phase of this development strategy. This state of the art building houses the Engineering, Construction and Sport curriculum.

2008/9 saw the creation of a £120m scheme which was to be funded by the LSC Capital Programme. Unfortunately, after a lot of work on the plans the LSC folded and the scheme was cancelled.

Since then, the college has reconsidered the options open to us, and concluded that a significant new build still remained the optimum solution. Work in underway to bring this new vision to life. This new campus will revolutionise the College’s existing estate, enabling the College to not only reduce the number of buildings and sites from which it operates, but also considerably improve its space efficiency.
