This English examination is used to assess whether a candidate is ready to study or train in English at Further or Higher Education level. This qualification is accepted by Universities and Colleges in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It is also accepted for courses like nursing and by professional bodies such as the General Medical Council in the UK.
This is a pre-intermediate level (Entry 2) examination. At this level, learners should have a good basic understanding of English. This is the first level of the Cambridge Main Suite Examinations.
This is an intermediate level (Entry 3) examination. At this level, learners should be able to cope with English in a range of everyday situations.
This is an upper-intermediate level (Level 1) examination. It is recognised in commerce and industry in many countries, for example for contact with the public in airlines, catering, banking, etc. It is also recognised by some UK Universities and Colleges for entry onto courses.
This is an advanced level (Level 2) examination. It indicates a high level of English for professional or study purposes, and is recognised by most UK Universities and Colleges for entry onto courses.
This is the most advanced level (Level 3) examination. It demonstrates a proficiency level which indicates native or near-native language ability in English.
No entry qualifications are needed but students should be literate in their own language. Students should be aged 17 years or over for all courses, including the Summer Schools. Beginners are only accepted in September and January.
Examinations are optional for EU students and international students on a Student Visitor Visa or Dependant Visa. Students on Tier 4 General Student Visas must enter and attend an examination to complete their course. Bradford College is a Centre for the Cambridge Main Suite examinations, and we can provide advice and support for applying for an IELTS examination, but Bradford College is not an IELTS Centre.
